This blog rarely covers the 1/1 work I regularly do, and which basically represents the core of VERY RARE at the moment, so I’ll try to change that with some future posts, the first one being this one about 1 of 1 Joy Division ‘Unknown Pleasures’ denim jacket.
The redesigned vintage Levi’s jacket features “Unknown Pleasures” record cover on the back and inside (original + negative), the drawings and album’s track listing (as it was featured on the original record, divided to “inside” and “outside”) on the inside pockets, and, of course, VERY RARE logo on the front.
The jacket came to life during one evening when ‘Day of the Lords’ gave me an idea of writing the album’s track listing on some garments and this jacket was the first thing to come into my hands. Peter Saville’s graphic was already used in street clothing so I decided to give it a story, with positive hanging over negative, or vice-versa, whatever you project on the outside…
Also, this is not the first time that VERY RARE references Joy Division’s work, check the ‘She’s Lost Control’ leather jacket I made for the +AFTERLIFE+ project. ++
